HOW THE TATTOO CHECK WORKS
The free tattoo check gives a tattoo idea a second opinion before you book it. Upload the design or describe it in words, choose where it goes, how big and what style, and you get an overall score with a verdict on six dimensions, usually in under a minute. There is no account to make and no card to enter.
THE SIX THINGS IT SCORES
- Design
- Whether the drawing itself holds together: its balance, its complexity, and how the line work is built.
- Placement
- How the body area you chose moves, rubs and catches sun, and what that does to this particular design.
- Aging
- Where the lines are likely to spread over ten and twenty years, and whether the design has room for it.
- Size
- Whether the detail survives at the scale you picked, or needs more room to stay readable.
- Style
- What the style asks of the artist and of the skin, and how well this design fits it.
- Readability
- Whether it will still read as what it is from across a room in a decade.
WHAT IS FREE AND WHAT IS NOT
The score is free: the overall number and a verdict on all six dimensions, with no signup. If you want the reasoning behind each score, what to change before you book, and a short brief to hand your artist, that full report is a one-time $19 for that design. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. The free score is meant to be useful on its own.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DESIGN
To score an image, the check has to send it to an AI model. The image goes to our analysis service for that one request, is passed to the AI provider to produce the report, and is not stored anywhere afterwards. If you would rather no picture left your device, choose Describe it and write the idea out in words instead; that produces a full report and sends no image. Your finished report is saved in this browser so you can come back to it.
GETTING THE MOST USEFUL SCORE
Upload the design itself, cropped close, rather than a photo of someone else's healed tattoo. Pick the size you actually intend, not the size that looks best on a screen, because size changes the score more than anything else. If you have not decided, answer Not sure: for size the report recommends a range that suits the design and placement, and for style it works out what the design reads as and judges it on that. Running the same design twice at two sizes is the quickest way to see where it starts to struggle.
WHAT THE SCORE CAN AND CANNOT TELL YOU
The check judges the idea: the drawing, the size, the spot and the style, and how those usually age together. It cannot judge execution, which is the artist's hand, and it cannot see your skin. Read the score as a prediction and a second opinion to bring into the consultation, not a verdict on your tattoo. A good artist may disagree with it for reasons that are right for you, and they have the last word.
QUESTIONS
- Is the tattoo check free?
- Yes. The overall score and a verdict on all six dimensions are free, with no account. The full report with the reasoning, the changes to make and an artist brief is a one-time $19 for one design, only if you want it.
- Do I have to upload a picture?
- No. Choose Describe it and write the idea in words. That path gives a full report and sends no image.
- Is my tattoo design stored?
- No. An uploaded image is sent to the AI model for that one analysis and is not stored afterwards. The report itself is kept only in your browser.
- Can the check tell me whether my artist will do a good job?
- No. It judges the idea, not the execution. Look at an artist's healed work for that, ideally photographed a year or more after the session.
